LAGRANGE -- James David Gray Sr., 92, of 603 N. Caswell St., died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Gray was born in Lenoir County to the late Clem and Gertrude Wade Gray and was the widower of Edith Gray. Mr. Gray had farmed in the LaGrange area and had also worked as a painter. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Gray is survived by two daughters, Barbara Gray Shephard of Grand Island, N.Y., and Marilyn Gray Peace of Mechanicsville, Va.; one son, James David Gray Jr. of Moseley, Va.; one brother, Clem Adams Gray of Goldsboro; six sisters, Elizabeth Gray Rowe of Raleigh, Lyda Vigansky of Goldsboro, Effie Gray Gay of High Point, Naomi Gray Ham of Snow Hill, Hazel Gray Brenneman of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Helen Byers of Fort Collins, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
