ANGIER -- Robert Stoffel, 77, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina.
Mr. Stoffel was born in Dorchester, Mass., and moved to Goldsboro in 1968. He was plant manager of Barry of Goldsboro until 1980. Then he was human relations director at Standard Products until he retired in 1990.
While in Goldsboro, he was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, served on the boards of directors of the Wayne County Boy Scouts and the Goldsboro Country Club, and was a member of the Rotary Club.
In recent years, he and his wife, Marcy, moved to Angier. He attended St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina, was a member of the Angier Kiwanis Club and was involved in the school's reading programs.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Linda Stoffel and Sue Langley and her husband, Joe Langley, and 3 grandchildren, Amy, Joseph, and Maddie Langley; and one sister, Fran LeVangie of Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette's Catholic Church Building Fund, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., 27526.
