Gilda Vann, 75, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Sampson County to the late Leon E. and Maggie Williamson Vann. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and furthered her education by graduating from the Presbyterian Nursing School of Charlotte. A member of First Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Virginia Henderson Sunday School Class. Prior to her retirement, she was a registered nurse at the Wayne County Health Department.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Dr. Glenn Phillips, Jr. and the Rev. Scott Thrailkill will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her two sisters, Adaline Vann and Dwanda Vann, both of the home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 125 South John St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530 or to the charity of one's choice.
