MOREHEAD CITY -- James Frederick Sproul, 73, died Saturday at Carteret General Hospital.
Dr. Sproul was born March 5, 1932, in Moundsville, W. Va., to the late James Robert Sproul and the late Lily Marie Sproul. He was a dentist and Chairman of Wayne Community College Hygiene and Dental Assistant Program in Goldsboro, until his retirement. He was also a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, Morehead City, with the rector, the Rev. H.G. Miller III, and the associate rector, the Rev. John H. Grayson officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Sue R. Sproul; two daughters, Melissa Sproul Hamilton of Cape Carteret and Jennifer Sproul Cain and husband, Toby, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, James Rogerson Sproul of Morehead City, and Paul Vincent Sproul and wife, Pamela, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Thomas Hamilton, Kelly Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton, Brantlee Barwick, Hudson Smith, Lily-Scott Smith, Abigail Sproul, Samuel Sproul, and Jackson Sproul.
Dr. Sproul was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristi Elizabeth Sproul.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8.
