Durwood "Pete" Lynn Waters, 70, of 1513 W. New Hope Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Greene County, he was the son of the late Toby and Margaret Warters. Mr. Waters was a retired painter for Wayne County Public Schools and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Waters is survived by his wife, Laverne Fields Waters; a daughter, Donna Womble of Pikeville; his sons, Michael Waters of Grantham and Kent Waters of Faro; his sisters, Mary Gray and Pauline Parks, both of Goldsboro; his brothers, John Waters of Goldsboro and Linwood Waters of Grantham; his grandchildren, Nikki Price, Shannon Waters, Amanda Huffman, Justin Waters, Chelsea Waters, Will Daughtry and Megan Womble; and his great grandchildren, Justice Price and Brody Price.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, 27534.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the funeral service at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
