PETE RAINS
KENLY -- H.C. "Pete" Rains, 85, died Tuesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Fellowship United Methodist Church. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rains was the son of the late Hiram B. and Lena Rowe Rains. He was co-owner of Rains Auto Supply in Kenly and owner of Southern Auto Supply Inc. in Wilson. A lifelong member of Fellowship United Methodist Church, e served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher, lay speaker, song leader and trustee and as a member of numerous committees.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Gardner Rains; three sons, Glenn Rains of Cary, Richard Rains of Rocky Mount and Danny Rains of Kenly; one daughter, Shay Collins of Garner; one brother, Bill Rains of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Coley Funeral Home in Kenly.
