DOROTHY PIERCE
MOUNT OLIVE -- Dorothy Alderson Pierce, 88, of 102-B Johnson Place, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was the widow of Joseph Thomas Pierce Sr., and was the daughter of the late Claude Alvin Alderson and Hattie Ivey Alderson. She was a retired bookkeeper.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive with Dr. Ray Warren officiating. Committal and burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Pierce Hill and husband, William Roger Hill of Mount Olive; two sons, Joseph Thomas Pierce Jr. and wife, Ruby of Thomasville, and Timothy Allen Pierce of Trinity; grandchildren, Christine Clements Peeler & husband, John of Clarksburg, Md., Michael Douglas Clements & wife, Jenny of Columbia, Karen Pierce Dutton & husband, John of Garner, Becky Pierce Craddock & husband, Jackie, Kelly Pierce Strader & husband, Jason, and Toni Pierce, all of Trinity; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alyssa, and Karen Peeler of Clarksburg, Md., Madison and Bailey Dutton of Garner, Jake and Cody Strader, Skyler Craddock, and Andrew Hill, all of Trinity; and a sister, Vivian Louise Alderson of Lynchburg, Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour preceding the service. At other times, they will gather at the home of Judith & Roger Hill, 252 Baker's Chapel Church Road, Mount Olive.
