GATSEY BRUSEWITZ

HEMET, Calif. -- Gatsey Jane Butler Brusewitz, of 26452 Girard, died last Saturday after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hemet. Memorial and interment services will be held in North Carolina at a later date.

Formerly of Goldsboro and a 1945 graduate of Goldsboro High School, Mrs. Brusewitz was the daughter of the late James Watson Butler and Gloria Frances Hailey Butler. She and her husband, Dale Kenneth Brusewitz, were married in 1950 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Goldsboro.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, formerly Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in music theory. A student of piano, organ and voice, she taught piano, served as church organist and musician, and as accompanist for many community and school events until she retired. She was a member of the Estadilla Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Carol Anne B. Knight of Hemet, Calif., and Mary Rose Brusewitz of New York City; one sister, Anne Watson Butler Shepard of Halifax, N.C.; and three granddaughters.
