JOHN BAILEY TULLOCH
PINEBLUFF -- John Bailey Tulloch, 88, died Friday at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Pinehurst.
Born March 18, 1916 in Rockingham County to the late William David and Bertie Reid Tulloch, he belonged to the National Guard during the 1930's. John worked at Edwards Machine Shop in Sanford, fabricating landing gear component for the P51 Mustang Fighter. He was a furniture dealer in Sanford and Aberdeen from 1946 until 1969. He served as a Moore County Magistrate in Southern Pines, and was the mayor of Pinebluff from 1965 until 1969. Mr. Tulloch was a member of Pinebluff United Methodist Church.
Mr. Tulloch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hattie Ham Tulloch; one son, John Allen and wife, Doris Tulloch of Wilmington; a daughter-in-law, Judy P. Tulloch; one brother, Robert "Bob" Tulloch of Durham; six grandchildren, Debbie Tulloch Peters, Billy Tulloch, John L. "Skeeter" Tulloch, Kathy Tulloch, Rebecca Tulloch, and Sarah Tulloch; three step-grandchildren, 14 nieces and nephews, and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dr. Charles "Bill" W. Tulloch and Berkley L. Tulloch, as well as one sister and six brothers.
A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Pinebluff United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert F. Bundy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at Pinebluff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Mr. Tulloch to Pinebluff United Methodist Church, Philadephia Avenue, Pinebluff, N.C., 28373.
Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines is serving the family.
