PAULINE THOMAS
Pauline Uzzell Thomas, 97, of the Elroy Community, died Wednesday at the Brian Center.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home, with Dr. Alan Lamm officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Wayne County to the late Richard and Beulah Newsome Uzzell. She was wife of the late John Haywood "J.H." Thomas Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, Linwood Earl Thomas. She was the oldest living member of Casey's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Beulah T. Sutton, and her husband, Billy, of LaGrange; five sons, Roland Thomas of Pine Bluff, Ark., Robert Thomas and wife, Martha, of Pine Bluff, Ark., Joseph Donald Thomas of Pine Bluff, Ark., Billy Ray Thomas and wife, Jean, of Washington, John Haywood Thomas Jr. and wife, Sophia, of Goldsboro; six brothers, Preston Uzzell, Malcolm Uzzell, Milton Uzzell, Theodore Uzzell, Marvin Uzzell and David Uzzell of Goldsboro; two sisters, Glenda Uzzell and Jeanette Hyde of Goldsboro; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange one hour prior to the service on Saturday. At other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sutton, 331 North Beston Road, LaGrange.
