SISTER MARY BAILEY

Sister Mary Ruth Bailey (formerly Sister Mary Anthony) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Monday.

Born on April 21, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Foley Bailey. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1947, and made her temporary profession of vows on May 8, 1950 and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1953. She served as teacher at St. Monica School, Raleigh, from 1954 to 1960; St. Paul School, New Bern, from 1969 to 1973; and St. Mary School, Goldsboro, from 1984 until the time of her death. She also served in schools in Cresson, Lock Haven and Pittsburgh, Pa.; East Rockaway, Smithtown and Syracuse, N.Y.; and St. Petersburg, Fla. She received a bachelor of art's degree and a master of science degree, both in elementary education, from Marywood College in Scranton, Pa.

She is survived by one brother, Frank Bailey, and sister-in-law, Mary D. Bailey.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bailey, and her sisters, Zelia Bailey and Helen M. Bailey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S., presiding. Interment be in St. Catherine Cemetery in Moscow, Pa., on Monday, January 3.

Memorial contributions may be made to the I.H.M. Retirement Fund, I.H.M. Center, 2300 Adams Avenue, Scranton, Pa., 18509.

The viewing will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
