THOMAS THAMES
Thomas David "Pinky" Thames, 82, of 1809 E. Azalea Drive, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Bobby Heath officiating.
Mr. Thames was a native of Sumpter County, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Thomas David Thames Sr. and Louise Brassell Thames. He was a retired roofing contractor.
He is survived by his special companion, Mary Helon Merritt of Goldsboro; and her children, Deborah Johnson and husband, Dennis, Dee Kleinert and husband, Tom, Diane Hill and husband, Mark, and Donna Adams, all of Goldsboro and David Merritt and wife, Theresa of Florida; and her grandchildren, Duff Lane, Todd Lane, Keith Lane, Stephanie Hill, Katie White, Mike Merritt, Steven Merritt, Chris Hux, Jason Hux and Patrick Hux; his sisters, Maybelle Elmore and Toni Broadway, both of Sumpter, S.C., and Betty McCraw and husband, Ted, of Spartanburg, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence, Milton, John, Hugh and Richard Thames.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Wednesday night, and other times at the residence.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
