BERTHA DAVIS
MOUNT OLIVE -- Bertha Holmes Davis, 85, died Saturday.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Harrison will officiate. Burial will be on Tuesday morning at 11 at Wayne Memorial Park.
She was the daughter of the late Alva "Abb" Holmes and Mary Owens Holmes and was the widow of Fonzy Davis.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen D. Williamson, and her husband, Jimmy, of Mount Olive; two brothers, Linwood Homes of Mount Olive and Edward Holmes of Goldsboro; four sisters, Eva Brock, Hadie Brock and Dorothy Brock of Mount Olive and Lucille Winders of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Clara Belle Holmes and Jean Holmes of Mount Olive; special niece, Leia Womack, and her husband, Lloyd, of Maryland; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Grey Holloman, and three brothers, James Holmes, Durwood Holmes and Alva Holmes Jr.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the home of Helen and Jimmy Williamson, 184 Jim Best Road, Mount Olive.
