DURWOOD GRAY

EFLAND -- Durwood Eugene Gray, 75, of 828 Brookhollow Road, died Wednesday at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Wayne County, was the son of the late Edgar Vance and Mamie Jones Gray and was the widower of Gladys Culbreth. He retired as a service representative with Bio Med and drove for Associated Transport and Burlington Industries. He was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship in Whisett and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He also was a member of Thomas M. Holt Lodge #492 A.F.&A.M., Amran Shrine Temple in Raleigh and the Amran Fire Brigade.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Pearson Gray of the home; a daughter, Phyllis Jean Harden of Reidsville; three sisters, Dixie Wilson, Mary Sheppa and Joyce Baker of Burlington; a stepson, Dale Dickey of Efland; a stepdaughter, Elaine Micco of Snow Camp; and two grandsons and eight step-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McClure Funeral Home in Graham, with Masonic rites to follow. The Rev. Bruce Readling will officiate. Burial will be on Friday afternoon at the Gray Family Cemetery in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at McClure Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
