ROCKY MOUNT -- Betrus Dahar Rabil Jr., age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2004.

He was born on July 4, 1929. He was the son of Betrus D. Rabil Sr. and Susie Safy Rabil. He was a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, attended the Rocky Mount City Schools and Edwards Military Institute in Salemburg, N.C. He joined the Army and was sent to Germany in 1945 with the Peace Keeping forces after World War II. He returned to Rocky Mount and received his Real Estate Brokers license which he held for over 50 years.

He loved all sports, especially bowling and was inducted into the Rocky Mount Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1988.

He was a Real Estate Broker, property manager, and investor. He was a very active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 22 years, where he served as head usher for over 20 years. He loved his church and never met a stranger. He was the District U.M.M. President for many years after serving locally as President of the U.M.M. at St. Paul. He continued to be an active member of the U.M.M. until his death.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elsie Asad Rabil of the home; his son, Richard J. Rabil, and a daughter, Cynthia R. Williams; his loving sister, Mrs. Virginia Rabil Mansour of Goldsboro, N.C.; two devoted nephews, Ernest N. Mansour Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., and Edward F. Mansour II of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; two grandsons, Robert J. Rabil Jr. and Clifton M. Rabil of Nashville, N.C., and two granddaughters, April and Ginny Williams of Florence, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Rabil Sr.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 Thursday (tonight) at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum.
