EUGENE W. PENNY
FREMONT -- Eugene W. Penny, 78, of Reidtown Road, died Friday morning at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
Funeral service will be held privately at Eureka Cemetery, with Stephen Howell officiating.
He was born in Johnston County on May 20, 1926 to the late L.A. Penny and Lessie Jones Penny.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Howard Penny.
Mr. Penny is survived by his wife, Sybile G. Penny of Goldsboro; three sons, Richard Earl Penny of Selma, Marvin Eugene Penny of Goldsboro, and Rodney Penny and wife, Joy of Pikeville; two daughters, Carolyn Pate of Surfside Beach, S.C., and Barbara Penny Pate and husband, Gerald of Pikeville; two sisters, Mozzel Strickland and husband, Bill of Wilson, and Shirley Johnston and husband, Wayne of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Saturday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home.
