MATTIE SUTTON
MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Mattie L. Sutton, 88, of 403 E. Kornegay St. will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Thunder Swamp Road. The Rev. Perry Carlton Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sutton died Wednesday Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
She is survived by three sons, Johnnie Lee Sutton Sr. (Vera) of Mount Olive, Willie M. Sutton Jr. (Christine) of Dudley and Wendell Sutton Sr. (Barbara) of Cherry Hill, Md.; three daughters, Betty J. Boston (Laverne) of Cambria Heights, N.Y., Mattie P. Garner (Ray) of Mount Olive and Linda F. Johnson (Alfred) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Omelia Bowden of Mount Olive, Nezzie Simmons of Faison, and Maybelle Sutton of Wilson; and 17 grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, 39 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the residence.
The viewing will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Saturday at Garris Funeral Home, and the family will be there from 6 until 7 to meet with relatives and friends.
Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
