REV. THOMAS BIZZELL
PRINCETON -- Rev. Thomas E. "Tom Ed" Bizzell, age 85, died peacefully at his home on Sunday afternoon.
He was born May 21, 1919, to the late Rev. Tom and Azzie Ado Worley Bizzell, and was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lois Rachel Rogers Bizzell and a daughter, Ruth Bizzell. Born in Johnston County, he was a farmer and a Pentecostal Holiness minister for 43 years. He pastored churches at Black Creek, Caraleigh, Selma, Bailey, Micro, Manley Grove, Clayton and Jones Grove before retiring in 1985. He married Lois Rachel Rogers on September 28, 1940. She was a loving wife and mother and played a huge part in his ministry, staying beside him for each and every church he pastored and during his evangelizing, singing the Gospel!
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bizzell Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Dwight Dunning, the Rev. Chris Thompson, Pentecostal Holiness Superintendent for NC and the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, Pentecostal Holiness Assistant Superintendent for NC. Burial will follow in the Bizzell Family Cemetery near the home.
Surviving are his daughters, Annette Holland, Betsy Woodard and husband, Benny, all of Princeton, Bonnie Outlaw and husband Haywood of Dudley and Ginger Wheeler and husband, John, of Bethany, Okla.; sons, Teeny Bizzell and wife, Janice, Sheriff Steve Bizzell and wife, Jennifer, and Tony Bizzell all of Princeton; brothers, Obadiah Bizzell of Princeton, Pat Bizzell of Pine Level and Gentry Bizzell of Selma,; sisters, Allene B. Johnson of Smithfield and Reba Bizzell of Raleigh; 18 Grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma and at other times at the home, 4530 Bizzell Grove Church Road, Princeton.
