GEORGE MARTIN
MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for George Gordon Martin, 84, of 1696 NC Hwy. 55 West, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Mount Olive. The Rev. L.D. Melvin will officiate. Burial will be in Walter Martin Cemetery.
Mr. Martin died Sunday at Sunbridge Nursing Center.
A U.S. Army veteran and a retired farmer, he was the son of the late Sir Walter and Lula Grantham Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Pennie Martin; five sons, Granger Ray Martin of Boones Mill, Va., Harold Martin of McLeansville, and Luby Martin of Covington, Ga., Willie Fred Martin of Mount Olive and Billy S. Martin of Clinton; two daughters, Ruby M. Simmons of Goldsboro and Olive J. Wilson-Bush of New York; and 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 7 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Mount Olive.
The viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
