SALLIE FREDERICK
Sallie S. Frederick, 96, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at noon at St. John A.M.E. Church. The Rev. Dorothy Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Frederick was the daughter of the late George Ransom Sasser and Chaney White Sasser. She attended public schools in Goldsboro and graduated from Prairie View A&M College in 1932. After teaching at several schools in Wayne and surrounding counties, she accepted a position at School Street School in Goldsboro and taught there from 1945 until 1970. She was a devoted member of St. John A.M.E. Church, where she served as president of the Women's Home Mission Society, stewardess, church school teacher, musician, choir member and member of the Pastor's Aide Society.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.C. Simmons, and her second husband, Joseph Frederick, and is survived by a niece and several nephews.
The family will receive friends at the church during the hour prior to the service on Saturday.
