REV. RALSTON BUTLER
The Reverend Ralston Butler was born June 6, 1921 to Miles and Estella Butler of Sampson County. Surround-ed by his family, this extraordinary servant of God who loved everyone unconditionally was called to his heavenly home on Monday, July 12, 2004.
Reverend Butler was a graduate of Holmes Bible College, Newberry College and Pembroke State University. He also received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Carter Bible College and was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist (PFWB) and Pentecostal Holiness Churches. He served many churches throughout Eastern North Carolina and was a missionary in Alaska from 1960-1964. He taught and mentored at Heritage Bible College in Dunn, N.C., and Carter Bible College in Goldsboro, N.C.
Reverend Butler rejoins his beloved wife, Winnie Ham Butler, and eight brothers who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two sons, Danny Butler and wife, Terry, of Greene County and Dwight Butler and wife, Stacy, of Fairfax, Va.; three daughters, Dianne Johnson and husband, Dale, of Clinton, Darlene Walker and husband, George, of Greene County, and Denise Stillwell and husband, Andrew, of Durham; twelve grandchildren, Heather Miller, Amy J. Harris and husband Shane, Leigh Butler, Amanda Miller, Chad Johnson, Wesley, Justin, Gabriel, Brandon and Colton Butler, and Liam and Aidan Stillwell.
Reverend Butler's grandsons will serve as Pallbearers during the service.
NOTE: Reverend Butler was an accomplished musician, especially on the piano. He and Winnie were well known and loved for their gospel duets. They recorded a gospel record in 1955. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Fort Run PFWB Church at Shine's Crossroads on Highway 13 between Goldsboro and Snow Hill. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro.
