MARY V. ARNOLD
BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Mary Rebecca Brace Vail Arnold died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Bridgewater Nursing Center, Bridgewater, Va.
She was born August 6, 1923, raised in the Finger Lakes region of New York and graduated from both Houghton College and Syracuse University. She was predeceased by her husbands, Homer Vail in 1971 and Floyd Arnold in 2000.
Rebecca was a homemaker, but after Homer's death she moved with her youngest children to the Guilford College community in Greensboro, N.C., where she worked for many years in the Guilford College Library. Rebecca was a member of the Religious Society of Friends, attended Valley Friends Meeting in Dayton, Va., and was a member of New Garden Friends Meeting in Greensboro.
Rebecca is survived by a family who loved her dearly: Marianne Vail Edelman and her sons Jonathan and Michael; Jerry Edelman, all of Garner; Emily Vail and her husband Vincent Yegge of Greensboro; Peter Vail, his wife Madge, and their children, Ellen, Sam and Grace of Lancaster, Ohio; Timothy Vail, his wife, Allison Rivenbark Vail, and their sons, Zachary and Jacob, of Greensboro; and Al and Ruth Vail and Bob and Virginia Vail Janda of Denver, Colo.
Memorial services celebrating Rebecca's life will be held at Valley Friends Meeting and New Garden Friends Meeting at a later date.
