THADDEUS JOYNER
KENLY -- Thaddeus Joyner, 60, died Tuesday after a brief illness.
He was a native of Johnston County and was the son of the late Coy and Lillie Pearce Joyner. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 21 years of service and then worked in real estate and his parcel delivery business.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Barnes Joyner; six children, Brandon, Gregory, Thaddeus, Lillie, Jermain and Maurice Revell of the home; his sisters and brothers, Jessie Sharpe, Dorothy Eason and Patricia Conley of Kenly, Bessie Hammiel of Temple Hills, Md., Brenda McDougal of Raleigh, Glenda Williams of Havelock, Maxine Hill of Clinton, James Joyner of Goldsboro and Lonnie Creech of New York; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Stancil Chapel Baptist Church. Evangelist Mary Ruffin will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be in Selma Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the church to receive friends during the hour prior to the funeral.
The body will lie in state at the home at 320 Beulah Town Road from 7 tonight until time for the funeral on Saturday.
Walter Sanders Funeral Home in Smithfield is in charge of the arrangements.
