PERCY BRITT
MOUNT OLIVE -- Percy James Britt, 75, of 515 Steele St., died Tuesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Britt was born in Sampson County to the late Fred and Julia H. Britt. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and he attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as operator of Percy Britt's Store west of Mount Olive.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hare Britt of the home; a brother, Bernice T. Britt of Morehead City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, a brother, William R. Britt, and two sisters, Sally Sanderson and Eloise Sutton, preceded him in death.
The funeral service for Mr. Britt will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doug Bartlett and the Rev. Jimmy Swinson officiating. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Michael Fail, David Fail, Gilbert Hare, Curtis Ray Nord, Glenn Nord and Gary Nord.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 138 Ed Edmondson Road, Mount Olive.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9 to receive friends. At other times, friends are welcome to call at the home.
