JAMES BARNES SR.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- James Ray Barnes Sr., 54, died Wednesday.
Mr. Barnes was an Episcopalian. He was active in the Plaza Little League and Boy Scouts of America and was a former assistant golf coach at Green Run High School.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Barnes of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Ray Barnes Jr. and Michael Sean Barnes of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Diane Bass and Debbie Moore of Benson; his mother-in-law, Ruby Hartsoe of Morganton; an aunt, Judy Bowers of Springfield, Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Christian Church Uniting with the Rev. James R. Luck Jr. officiating.
The family will greet friends tonight from 7 until 9 T Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 151 N. Military Hwy., Suite 106, Norfolk, Va., 23502; or to Plaza Little League, P.O. Box 2285, Virginia Beach, Va., 23452.
