Three individuals were arrested in connection to the death of 7-month-old Jonathon Michael Kaceyn Clements. Wayne County Sheriff's Office began investigation with the SBI into the case in February.
A statement from the Sheriff's Office indicates detectives working on the case zeroed in on Kaylay Rebecca Ann Clements, Jonathon's mother.
Detectives said the last time the baby was seen in Wayne County was in October 2016. Jonathon suffered an injury, but Major Richard Lewis, Wayne County public information officer, said he could not definitively say what the baby's injury was nor that the investigation led to conclude the baby died of his injury.
Jonathon's body has not been found, but through the investigation, detectives believe Jonathon died, Lewis said.
"I know our detectives have worked hard on the case," Lewis said. "It is not the outcome that we had hoped for."
Clements was arrested on March 29, and faces charges of felony failure to report the disappearance of a child. She was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center and given a secured bond of $75,000. In July, the Wayne County Grand Jury indicted her for an additional charge of felony concealment of a death of a child.
Phillip Joseph Goff, 32, was arrested on May 7, and charged with felony concealment of a death of a child. He was jailed in the detention center under a $10,000 secured bond.
Karl David Colt, 48, of 1613 E. Wright Road, Greenville, was arrested July 13 and charged with felony concealment of a death of a child and jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.
