LaGrange woman drowns in pool

A 65-year-old woman died from an apparent drowning Friday evening in LaGrange.
Wayne County sheriff deputies and Wayne County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to 1961 E. New Hope Road, in LaGrange, at approximately 9:53 p.m. after receiving information of a possible drowning, officers said.
When they arrived, Wanda Best was found lying on the deck of the pool. Deputies and EMS personnel worked to revive Best and performed CPR but were unsuccessful.
Best was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff deputies.
Deputies determined that Best's husband had left the residence earlier to get something to eat. When he returned home, he was unable to locate his wife inside the residence. He then found his wife face down in the pool and immediately called 911, officers said.
Deputies determined that there were no signs of any foul play.
