Members of the Wayne Community College Dental Hygiene Class of 1978 recently gathered for its 40th anniversary reunion.

While on campus, the classmates toured the college's dental facilities which were new to them as they had studied on the "old campus."

The class presented a $1,275 donation to the Foundation of Wayne Community College's Donica Shivar Dental Hygiene Scholarship Fund.

"We have a wonderful dental hygiene program here at Wayne. This will allow us to continue helping students in this program," said Foundation Donor Relations and Communications Coordinator Emily Byrd in accepting the contribution to what she called "the most expensive program on campus."

The Foundation awarded 629 scholarships worth nearly $448,500 in the 2017-2018 academic year. In addition to raising and disbursing funds for scholarships, it provides funding for innovative campus projects and employee recognition, and offers cultural programs for the community.
