Valedictorian Alyssa Davis told those attending Faith Christian Academy's graduation Friday night that she lives in two worlds.

"One is a world of books -- a world that informs, educates, transports you to other realms, takes you to places you've never been and impacts the way you think about the deep things of life."

The other world is the real world, where decisions matter, where consequences, both good and bad, are shaped by education, experiences and relationships.

"The characters in this world are not blotches of ink on paper, but real people who influence who we are and ultimately help shape the reality we continually face," Davis said.

She told the graduates that the road ahead will not be an easy one, but one filled with difficulties, hardships, challenges and things that will test their resolve to fulfill their purpose in Christ.

"May our thoughts be clear, our passion be strong and our decisions be focused on that which is the 'good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God," Davis said.

Salutatorian Ethan Phillips encouraged his fellow classmates to continue to build upon the foundation of their time at Faith Christian Academy.

"We are closing this chapter of our lives and are beginning the next chapter," he said. "Our time at Faith will serve as a strong foundation that will aid us in the decisions that are yet to come.

"I encourage all of you to not waste the time you spent at Faith. I urge you all to let God work in your lives and allow him to use you for his glory."

Pastor Christian Powell gave a challenge to the graduates on "Changing the World from Goldsboro, N.C." using the Scripture Matthew 5:13-16.

"God has made you a missionary to culture," he said. "That is your life's calling. Be a world changer. Leave a lasting imprint on every room you enter, every job you hold, every task you're given and every person you encounter."

He told the students that "you've been called and trained to be salt in the midst of corruption, light in the midst of darkness, love in the midst of hate and truth in the midst of error.

"Your story is completely shaped by the transforming power of Jesus' gospel. What he has done for you and in you should flow out in everything you do for the rest of your life."
