More than 17,000 eggs will be hidden throughout Herman Park for the annual Easter Eggstravaganza Saturday morning.

Considered the largest Easter egg hunt in Wayne County, as many as 1,200 children attend the Eggstravaganza each year, said Lynn Grantham, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation marketing and special events leader.

The Easter egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. at Herman Park on Herman Street, and activities for children, elementary school age or younger, continue until 1 p.m.

The eggs will be filled with candy and small prizes.

The event is organized and sponsored by the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department and Bethel Church, with the church providing volunteers, entertainment, games and other activities and the city offering staff and use of the park and performing stage.

"Goldsboro Parks and Recreation is excited to partner with Bethel Church for the Easter Eggstravaganza," Grantham said.

After the Easter egg hunt, activities will continue at the park, with inflatables, live music, face painting, free pizza and more.

"Easter Eggstravaganza is an event for the entire family," said Phillip Sexton, with Bethel Church. "The largest Easter egg hunt in Wayne County, (with) live music and entertainment, free food, inflatables and tons of prizes are just a few reasons you don't want to miss this year's Easter Eggstravaganza."
