The Salvation Army will hold its annual Barbecue Fundraiser March 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its building at 610 N. William St.
Tickets are $8 each for a meal of barbecue, potato salad, cole slaw, hush puppies, a slice of cake and a Pepsi product of your choice or bottled water. The barbecue meal will be provided by Wilber's Barbecue. Drinks will be provided by Pepsi Co. and Culligan.
There will be eat-in, drive through and carry out.
Drive through diners will enter on the William Street side of the building and exit on the Holly Street side.
"It's all done by our women's auxiliary," said Capt. Sherrie Stokes with the Salvation Army. "They come in and man everything. They handle all of the case, food, drinks, every bit of it."
Stokes said you don't have to have a ticket to get a meal, you can pay for it at the door. But a ticket guarantees you a meal.
"This has been a great fundraiser throughout Wayne County," she said. "We've seen great benefits from this fundraiser, being able to make a difference in the lives of local children."
Funds raised by the barbecue luncheon go to help send local children to camp during the summer.
"The cost is $250 per child, but with the community's help and this fundraiser, it takes that price down to $25 for each child," Stokes said.
Anyone wanting to purchase a ticket for the Barbecue Fundraiser can get one at the Salvation Army. For more information, call 919-735-4811.
