Man charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly setting fire

A 60-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested for attempted first-degree murder after allegedly setting fire to an occupied home Friday night.
Milford Bass, of 300 W. Grantham St., was arrested and charged Friday by Goldsboro police with two counts of felony attempted first-degree murder, felony first-degree arson and felony second-degree arson, according to Goldsboro police.
Bass was charged with setting fire to a home and storage unit, with the use of an accelerant, at 416 Murray St., in Goldsboro.
According to police, Bass allegedly set the residence on fire shortly after 8 p.m. and then flagged down a police officer and said he had just set the home on fire.
There were two people inside the home at the time of the fire, according to police reports.
Robin Sanders, of the home, suffered burns and was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care and later transported to the Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
Bass remains in the Wayne County Detention Center with a secured bond of $660,000. He made his first court appearance on Monday.
