Predicted rainfall Wednesday led organizers to cancel Jingle in the Park, but Santa Claus is still coming to town.
Jingle in the Park, an evening of fun for children, including ice skating and train rides, was planned to take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Herman Park.
"Due to weather, Jingle in the Park is canceled," Lynn Grantham, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation marketing and special events leader, confirmed this afternoon. The National Weather Service in Raleigh is predicting a 90 percent chance of rain on Wednesday.
Santa Claus will visit the W.A. Foster Recreation Center, at 1012 S. John St., Wednesday from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Grantham said.
"Jingle will not be rescheduled for this year," Grantham said. "At this time, we will only have Santa at the W.A. Foster Center."
Jingle in the Park, hosted by the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department, typically draws hundreds of people each year to Herman Park.
The event was originally planned two nights, on Dec. 8 and 9, but rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions.
