County Christmas parades step off this weekend

Santa Claus is coming to town, after town, after town, after town this weekend for parades in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Fremont and Princeton on Saturday and in Pikeville on Sunday.
The Mount Olive Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce, will kick off the weekend of parades with a 10 a.m. start on Saturday.
The parade route will start on Talton Avenue, turn left (south) on Breazeale Avenue, turn left (east) on College Street and right (south) on Center Street.
The parade route will end at the parking lot behind the Chamber of Commerce and where the historic Mount Olive Depot is located. The parking lot can be accessed from John Street or Main Street.
To get to the parade line-up location, take U.S. 117 Alternate North past McDonald's, turn right onto Northeast Church Road, right onto Old Mount Olive Highway and then right onto Talton Avenue.
Talton Avenue will be a one-way street from 9 to 11 a.m. for safety reasons and participants must enter Talton Avenue off of the Old Mount Olive Highway.
Bands will line up on the road behind Advanced Auto/Popes. Commercials floats and the Shriners Sudan Mini-Rigs will line up at the east end of Roses' parking near Roses.

The Fremont Christmas Parade, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 12, will step off at 1 p.m.
The lineup will start at 11 a.m. along Vance Street. Fire trucks will line up along South Vance Street and the other entries along North Vance Street. The route will follow Main, Goldsboro, South and Dock streets.
The Princeton Christmas Parade begins at 1 p.m.
It is sponsored by the Princeton Women's Improvement Club.
The lineup will begin in the Princeton High School parking lot at noon.
The route will follow Pearl Street to Third Street where it will turn right. It will turn right on Pine Street then right onto Dr. Jones Boulevard and back to the school.

The Goldsboro Christmas Parade will close out the day.
Sponsored by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, it will start at 4 p.m.
The parade route will start on South Center Street near the fire/police complex. It will follow Center Street to Walnut Street where it will turn right.
It will follow Walnut Street for one block before turning left on John Street. It will follow John Street for one block before turning left on Mulberry to Center Street where it will turn right.
At the traffic circle the parade route will turn left on Center Street.
The parade will disband at Chestnut Street.

On Sunday, the Pikeville Christmas Parade will begin at 3 p.m.
The lineup will start at 2 p.m. Floats will line up at St. Joseph's Church at the corner of Mill and Church streets. Fire trucks will line up along Washington Street.
From the church, the route goes down Washington Street to Main Street where it turns left. It will follow Main Street to Railroad Street where it turns left again.
It follows Railroad Street to the park where with will disband. The parade is sponsored by the Pikeville/Pleasant Grove Fire Department and private citizens.
