A Goldsboro man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to destroy heroin as deputies put him under arrest when they saw him preparing to inject the drug in a parking lot.
Justin Joseph Schneck, 26, of 308 Audobon Ave., is charged with felony altering/stealing/destroying criminal evidence, resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A press release said a detective with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office watched Schneck leave a residence known for dealing drugs.
Schneck then drove to a public parking area at Ash Street and Leslie Street, and the detective reportedly saw Schneck preparing heroin to inject into himself when he pulled up on his car.
The detective removed Schneck from the car, and Schneck allegedly tried to dispose of or destroy the heroin while being arrested.
Maj. Richard Lewis with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Schneck tried to destroy or dispose of the heroin by dumping it out in his car and trying to spread it out in the carpet.
Warrants were secured by the Wayne County Drug Squad and Schneck was put in the Wayne County Jail under a $9,500 secured bond.
