A pair of 16-year-olds are facing a litany of charges after allegedly stealing a multiple vehicles and firearms in the Grantham community earlier this month.

Isaiah Xavier Shaw, 16, of 2050 Grantham School Road, and Jarius Marderek Brewer, 16, of 2200 Grantham School Road, are each charged with 10 counts of larceny of a motor vehicle; three counts trespassing; two counts injury to real property; two counts larceny of a firearm; first-degree burglary; breaking and entering a motor vehicle; felony larceny; possession of a stolen firearm; possession of a stolen motor vehicle; and possession of stolen goods.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says the teenagers were stopped in a truck that had been reported stolen a short time after a concerned citizen in the area called in suspicious activity.

A press release said a person called the sheriff's office after seeing a four-wheeler and truck going down Grantham School Road at a high rate of speed in the twilight hours of  Monday morning.

The person tried to track down the vehicles going down the road, thinking whoever was operating them could be responsible for the rash of thefts reported between Oct. 5 to 16.

Deputies responded and found the ATV abandoned off the side of Grantham School Road.

Maj. Richard Lewis said deputies then stopped a truck at the intersection of Grantham School Road and N.C. 55 because it was being driven erratically.

Shaw and Brewer were inside the truck, and deputies determined the truck was reported stolen from Grantham School Road earlier that same night.

The duo was taken to the sheriff's office for questioning, and detectives determined they were allegedly responsible for all of the motor vehicle thefts reported in the Grantham area, as well as a burglary at a residence in Mar-Mac, a car break-in in the Mar-Mac area, damage to a Grantham store and stealing the ATV.

Lewis said the teenagers did not provide a motive for the thefts.

All of the stolen vehicles were recovered.

Lewis said they were found in fields and off the side of various roads.

Brewer and Shaw were put in the Wayne County Jail under a $105,000 secured bond each.
