Senior resource fair will focus on good health in retirement

A resource fair for senior citizens will be held Sept. 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Peggy Seegars Senior Center.

A welcome, invocation and pledge of allegiance will be given by Dwight Williams, district director for the office of congressman David Rouzer.

Paula Edwards will talk about what the senior center offers. She is director of Wayne County Services on Aging.

She will be followed by Davin Madden, director of the Wayne County Health Department, who will give a presentation on how to maintain good health in retirement.

Richard Trottier, Legal Aid of North Carolina senior law advisor, will give a presentation on wills, bills and other legal matters.

A presentation on SHIIP, what it is and what it can do for seniors, will be given by Barbara Pope with the North Carolina Department of Insurance SHIIP program.

Ethel Barnes will talk about social security. She is a public affairs specialist with the Goldsboro Social Security Office.

The fair will conclude with a presentation on "Be Aware! Exploitation, Fraud and Scams are Everywhere" by Tom Flores, a detective with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

The senior resource fair is free.
