The Goldsboro Police Department arrested a 17-year-old early Thursday morning after he allegedly broke into a camper and a shed, according to a press release.
Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, officers with C shift responded to a call of an active breaking and entering at 207 Woodbine St. When they arrived, the owner of the property told them that the suspect had been seen exiting the owner's shed and then fled on foot towards East New Hope Road, according to the release.
Officers located Andrew James Dawson, 17, of 215 Woodbine St., lying behind a shed at his home a few minutes later. He had with him multiple items taken from the victim's fifth-wheel camper and had not taken anything from the shed, according to the release.
After officers found Dawson, he reportedly became erratic and aggressive. This led to a struggle with officers, during which Dawson damaged a police vehicle.
Dawson was eventually taken into custody and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, damage to property and resist, delay or obstruct an officer. He was given a $20,000 secured bond.
