The Wayne County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop Friday which led to man's arrest for possession of cocaine and child abuse.
According to a press release, Shelvon Tracy Rich, 43, of 112 Marlette Drive, was driving on N.C. 111 S. near Mount Airy Road around 9:30 p.m. when the sheriff's office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team stopped Rich's vehicle.
The ACE team discovered two open containers, cocaine and Rich's 1-year-old child in the 2009 black Honda Accord, the release said.
Rich is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor child abuse.
He was placed under a $3,000 unsecured bond.
Maj. Tom Effler said officers possibly saw the open containers in the car first which led to Rich's arrest.
