Authorities stopped a father and son as they left a local hotel Friday and arrested them for methamphetamine possession after searching the vehicle they were in, according to a press release.
Vincent Jerry Weaver, 46, and Dustin Shane Weaver, 27, both of 319 Sambo Lambert Road, are each charged with possession of methamphetamine and were given a $1,500 secured bond.
Members of the Wayne County Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team were conducting an investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of narcotics when they spotted the Weaver's in a car leaving the Serena Inn.
They stopped the car for a motor vehicle violation, searched it and found methamphetamine, the release said.
The Serena Inn recently reopened after being shut down for inspections violations after authorities raided the hotel in August 2016, and executed multiple search warrants.
Allen Anderson, chief inspector for the city, said the hotel passed its final inspection to reopen on Dec. 29, 2016.
