Police arrested two 16-year-olds Friday night after they allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint when he agreed to give them a ride from the Beestown convenience store at 905 S. Slocumb St.
Aaron Smith, of 312 Goldleaf Drive, and Terrencio Kornegay, of 808 S. Andrews Ave., were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon after one of them reportedly held the man who offered them a ride at gunpoint.
According to a police report, Kornegay and Smith asked Jahziel Martinez, 21, of Franklin Street, if he wanted to buy some marijuana as he entered the store, and he declined.
When he left the store, they asked for a ride. Martinez initially declined, but decided to give the two boys a ride "around the corner," the report said.
One of the boys allegedly pulled a gun and demanded he give them everything he had.
Then the two boys ran off with an iPhone 6 and $300, the report said.
Kornegay was given a $250,000 secured bond, and Smith was given a $200,000 secured bond.
Both will have their first appearance in Wayne County court Monday.
