Wayne County Public Schools, along with the College Foundation of North Carolina, will hold the first of two financial aid workshops this week.

High school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing higher education, and their parents, are invited to attend one of the two events.

The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Southern Wayne High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. The other one will take place Jan. 31 in the Charles B. Aycock High cafeteria, also at 6.

"These workshops will help students and parents better understand the many options that are available to help them pay for college," said Tamara Berman-Ishee, WCPS assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. "Topics will include applying for student loans, filling out federal student aid forms, avoiding too much debt and where to look to find scholarships or grants.

"It is our hope that these events will help students and their families make informed decisions as they plan ahead for higher education and the future."

Sarita Broadway, a CFNC representative, will lead both consolidated financial aid workshops. Students or parents with questions about the workshops may contact the guidance office at their school.
