Caribou Mountain Collective is coming to Wayne County -- along with a member who is a Goldsboro native. The concert will be Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
Miles Perry, 29, resided in Goldsboro until he left home to East Carolina University at 18. He moved around a bit until he ended up in Colorado in 2009. He was enticed by the Colorado mountains and the music scene there.
Perry had started playing the guitar his senior year of high school, but didn't get serious about it until he moved to Colorado.
"A bass player and I met at a little music festival in the mountains in Colorado," he said. "We played music all night and talked about starting a band. Our buddy in Boulder plays the dobro. We met him at a music event, got together and started the band."
Not only does Perry play the guitar with the band, but he also writes a lot of the songs the band performs.
Caribou Mountain Collective has two CDs. Til the Sun Gives Us a Day came out in 2014 and Went Down with the Sun was released in July 2015.
"One of the most gratifying things about playing music is the connection you feel with the people listening," Perry said. "Eliciting emotions from people is something I strive for in music, whether it's happiness, sadness or other emotion."
Perry said he considers it an honor to be playing with the band at the Paramount.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for ages 18 and younger, available at the Paramount box office, by calling 919-583-8432 or online at www.goldsboroparamount.com.
