A man was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run when a person driving a truck hit him as he walked near America's Best Value Inn off of 701 U.S. 70 East.
The person driving the truck allegedly left the scene heading toward Wayne Memorial Drive before the Goldsboro Police Department arrived, a report said.
Upon arrival, the police found that Windom Levi Elliott, 39, of Arizona, died from being struck by the vehicle, according to the police.
The report said both the man and the person driving the truck were heading east on the service road when the man walking was hit by a vehicle.
The police released a description of the vehicle saying it could possibly be a 2004 to 2008 Ford F-150 truck. The report said the truck may have a bed cover, and the front right headlight and right side mirror should be damaged. A person walking with Elliott reported the hit-and-run to the police, Maj. Anthony Carmon said. He said there were no signs of alcohol or drugs being involved.
"No one has been apprehended," Carmon said. "We're looking for the public to give us any information about the driver."
