The Goldsboro City Council recessed its Sept. 19 meeting and will reconvene Monday night.
The council will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 214 N. Center St.
The council does not have a set agenda but is expected to pick up discussions regarding a proposed list of roads that could be repaved if a $7 million bond referendum is approved by voters during the Nov. 8 general election, said Scott Stevens, city manager.
During a recent work session, the council reviewed a list of 32 sections of roadways that could be the first for repaving, at an estimated cost of $2.76 million.
Councilman Bevan Foster asked for time to consider the list and proposed repaving areas. Marty Anderson, Goldsboro chief city engineer, presented the proposed roadways that are in each of the council's six districts.
Roadway sections include areas along Carolina Street in council District 1; Claiborne Street, Hillcrest Drive and Hilldale Lane in District 2; John Street and Audubon Avenue in District 3; Best Street and Wayne Avenue in District 4; Holly and Beech streets in District 5; and Cedar Road and Hunters Creek Drive in District 6.
Resurfacing costs for each district are estimated at $456,023, District 1; $412,170, District 2; $464,481, District 3; $481,708, District 4, $473,629, District 5; and $476,713, District 6.
Stevens asked the council for feedback on the list by Sept. 28, in order to provide enough time to mail residents a newsletter that details the street repaving bond proposal.
The October newsletter will be also include information about a second bond referendum of $3 million that would partially fund construction of a 62-acre multi-sports complex on Oak Forest Road. On Nov. 8, city voters will decide on the bonds separately.
