Two injured after truck t-bones S10 on U.S. 70

Two trucks collided at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Piney Grove Church Road Tuesday afternoon after the driver of the F-150, Michael Elliott Hill, ran a red light and t-boned the Chevrolet S10, driven by Malaysia Narelle Edwards.

Two people were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital after a wreck on U.S. 70 East at Piney Grove Church Road Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m.

The wreck happened near Dan Wise Chevrolet and Down East Furniture when a red Ford F-150 t-boned a white Chevrolet S10 while the Chevrolet was attempting to turn west onto U.S. 70.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrolman Justin Arnette, the F-150, driven by Michael Elliott Hill, of 3114 Central Heights Road, ran a red light heading eastbound on U.S. 70 right as the Chevrolet was turning onto the highway and t-boned the driver's side of the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet was driven by Malaysia Narelle Edwards, of 459 Mindy Lane, Kinston.

Edwards was taken to the hospital with complaints of severe back pain. Hill was taken to the hospital for treatment of a laceration on his arm.

Letchworth Body Shop and Ash Street Automotive towed the vehicles away from the scene,

Hill was charged with a stoplight violation and was estimated to be going 55 miles per hour when he hit the Chevrolet.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol, Goldsboro Fire Department, El-Roy Volunteer Fire Department and Wayne County EMS responded to the wreck.
