The city of Goldsboro held a press conference Aug. 5 addressing recent violence in the city.
Specifically, it was announced that that the city had received $25,000 in pledged donations from six local businesses, individuals, the Friends of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and the the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee.
The pledged donations are to be paid out as reward money for information leading to the solving of the five unsolved homicides that have occurred in the city in 2016.
Since Aug. 5, the city has received additional private pledges of money specifically to be applied to the solving of the homicide of Atiya Maddox, which brings the privately donated amount in that case to $10,000, in addition to the Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers program, which provides cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to felony arrests.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, text 919-222-4230 or submit a TIP at tipsubmit.com.
