One man is injured following a shooting Monday afternoon in the 300 block of Wayne Avenue.
Police responded to 1617 E. Elm St. just before 4:45 p.m. Monday to a report of a man being shot.
When officers arrived, they found Justin Maurice Devaughn, 25, of 1617 E. Elm St., shot twice.
Officers on the scene said Devaughn was brought to 1617 E. Elm St. in a private vehicle, which was a silver Ford Crown Victoria. According to officers on scene, 1617 E. Elm St. was Devaughn's mother's house.
Devaughn was reportedly shot in the 300 block of Wayne Avenue before being brought to 1617 E. Elm St. in the private vehicle.
According to a police report filed on the incident following the shooting, Devaughn allegedly got into a fight with an unknown suspect, who then reportedly shot Devaughn with a handgun.
There was one witness to the fight and subsequent shooting, the report says.
Devaughn was taken from 1617 E. Elm St. to the hospital by Wayne County EMS for treatment.
As police investigated the scene Monday afternoon and firefighters provided assistance to Wayne County EMS, a small crowd gathered on the side of Elm Street opposite the house Devaughn was brought out of.
Traffic was briefly diverted from the area and sent down Madison Avenue and Jefferson Avenue while first responders worked to extricate Devaughn from the scene.
The scene was cleared by 5 p.m. Monday.
There are currently no suspects in the shooting.
Maj. Anthony Carmon with the Goldsboro Police Department confirmed that Devaughn was shot twice, but said the location of where he was shot on his body could not be confirmed "because he was not cooperative," Carmon said.
