A homeless man was robbed at knifepoint and assaulted early Thursday morning by who he claims were family members.
John Henry Powell, 24, of the Streets of Goldsboro, reported to police that he was walking on East Ash street at 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning when a vehicle occupied by two white males pulled up beside him and its occupants began yelling at him.
Powell told police he then began running away from the vehicle when the vehicle cut him off and stopped him near 2201 E. Ash St.
The vehicle's occupants, who Powell identified as family members, allegedly got out and held him up at knifepoint while they assaulted him and stole an LG prepaid cell phone and $84l.
The two people then fled the scene in the vehicle.
Powell was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
