A roll of toilet paper caught fire inside the bedroom of a house located at 208 W. Spruce St. Thursday night, causing Goldsboro firefighters to respond to the scene and extricate the toilet paper roll from the residence and extinguish it on the sidewalk in front of the house.
Goldsboro Fire Department Engine 1 and Ladder 1 responded to a fire at 208 W. Spruce St. just after 10:15 p.m. Thursday night.
Upon arriving, firefighters found a lit toilet paper roll inside the front right bedroom of the house and used water from the fire truck to extinguish the fire, said Assistant Goldsboro Fire Chief James Farfour.
Three people were inside the house at the time of the small fire.
"They drank too much, they were smoking, and luckily the roommates that were asleep inside the house woke up," Farfour said. "Firefighters were able to take the roll of toilet paper out and extinguish it."
No one was injured.
